Dear All,

I have come to my blogsite after a long time. I thought that I should update my blog on IGNOU frequently so that many many students and prospective students will get up to date information about IGNOU and the courses that it offers. In this blog post, I am going to talk about IGNOU admisssion for International Students and the General News and Updates about IGNOU Admission

IGNOU stands for Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi and the admission of International Students will be handled by the International Division of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. IGNOU is known as Open UNiversity, or Distance Education. So, IGNOU publishes notices and announcements for its Distance Education programmes for the International Students throughout the year. So, depending on the nature and type of couse that you want to take, it is important to visit IGNOU website regularly from time and again. 

In case of IGNOU, tudents can register either through Overseas Study Centres or through Regional Centres as Foreign Students Residing in India for admission in IGNOU. So, if you are a foreign citizen living in UAE, you have to go to Overseas Study Centre of IGNOU opened in UAE. Either IGNOU opens such centers directly in foreign countries or in many cases, they are opened through Partner Institutions. These partner institutions are either educational consultancies located in those countries or they can be local colleges/campuses/Universities located in that country.

As per the list of such centers provided here and published by  I.G.N.O.U.  INTERNATIONAL DIVISION as LIST OF APPROVED OVERSEAS STUDY CENTRES   (Activated for Fresh Admission and Existing students) and published in June, 2023, there are more than 20 such centers for admissions authorised by IGNOU.

In case of those foreign nationals and students currently living in India, they can go to Regional Centers of IGNOU. For example, each Indian state has generally a regional center of IGNOU. So, for example, if you live in Telangana State (in Hyderabad City), you can go to regional center of IGNOU located at the following address:

The most common questions that we see in our IGNOU Information blog is what is the due date for IGNOU Assignment Submissions for taking IGNOU Exam/IGNOU Term End Examination (TEE).

One of our reader asked us as below: 

"I am a B. Com. (A&F) student in IGNOU University and am liable for 1st Term End Examination (TEE) of IGNOU in December, 2015 but my query is what is the last date of submission of IGNOU Assignments as I am confused because the questions provided for it stated 15th September, 2015 as last date for submission of IGNOU Assignments in some IGNOU Assignment Question Papers and in some IGNOU Assignment Question Papers, the last date of submission of IGNOU Assignment was mentioned as 30th September, 2015. Here in this IGNOU Assignment information Blog, I read that the last date for submission of Assignment for TEE December, 2015 (Term End Examination of IGNOU of December) is 30th October. So, Please kindly clear my doubts. Thanks"

Our Answer:

Dear All, you read it very well in our blog. Please note that IGNOU Conducts any examination (TEE Examination of IGNOU, Term End Examination of IGNOU University) twice a year. The Examination is conducted once in June month of the year and another TEE of IGNOU (Term End Examination of IGNOU) is conducted in December month of the year. Depending on the time of the admission in IGNOU, you can attend either Term End Examination of IGNOU in June or Term End Examination of IGNOU in December.

Now, you must note that the assignments of IGNOU must be submitted before even filing the examination forms. Without submitting the assignment, you can not even fill the examination form of the Term End Examination of IGNOU. Therefore, the normal rule is you must submit your assignment of IGNOU by October, 30 if you intend to appear in Term End Examination of IGNOU in the month of December. Similar will be the case that you must submit your assignment of IGNOU by April, 30 if you intend to appear in Term End Examination of IGNOU in the month of June.

Please remember that the rules quoted above are normal rules regarding the submission of IGNOU Assignments.

However, you must also note down the specific rules made for each subjects and made for each academic year and by each branch of Schools. IGNOU has different branches of study. IGNOU has different study center and therefore, each can set their own rules with respect to due date for submission of assignments.

Therefore, we advise you to follow the specific instructions given in your Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers/Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers Booklet.

For example, we checked a subject of B.Com. (F&A). We found that one of the subjects that the IGNOU Students have to study is Business Organisation. They have given the Assignment due date submission as 15 September if you are going to appear for Term End Examination of IGNOU in the month of December. They have also stated in their Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers/Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers Booklet that the Assignment due date submission is 15 March if you are going to appear for Term End Examination of IGNOU in the month of June.

Please check the Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers/Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers Booklet from HERE and verify it yourself.

Similarly, if you check Assignment Question papers booklet from HERE, you can see that they have mentioned different dates as Assignment Submission dates of IGNOU for Masters of Political Science/for Master of Arts in Political Science/for MA (Political Science)/ for MPS. For Masters of Political Science/for Master of Arts in Political Science/for MA (Political Science)/ for MPS, it has been mentioned that the Assignment due date submission as September 30, 2015 if you are going to appear for Term End Examination of IGNOU in the month of December. They have also stated in their Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers/Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers Booklet that the Assignment due date submission is March 31, 2015 if you are going to appear for Term End Examination of IGNOU in the month of June.

So, please submit your assignment of IGNOU within the due date as mentioned in Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers/Term End Examination (TEE) Assignment Question Papers Booklet. The information provided in our blog are only general. IGNOU TERM END EXAMINATIONS RESULTS - JUNE, 2013

Recently, we had contacted IGNOU regarding TEE June, 2013 IGNOU Examinations and regarding submission of IGNOU Assignments. and regarding MBA Assignment Marks. Surprisingly, it was not easy to reach them. The emails sent to them returned undelivered. Phone numbers are unreachable. IGNOU Assignments Submission 2013 for TEE June, 2013

IGNOU has announced that the Submission of assignments mandatory for TEE

All IGNOU students must submit their assignments in order to get hall tickets for the Term End Examination (TEE), the Student Evaluation Division (SED) has announced.

“All IGNOU students are required to ensure the validity of their registration and submission of assignments of the courses for which they intend to appear in TEE. They are also required to get their examination forms authenticated from their Study Centres/ Programme Study Centres/Special Study Centres/Recognised Study Centres/Partner Institutions/Community Colleges/Convergence Centres/Programme Coordinators, etc. to this effect and submit the same at their respective Regional Centres,” said Prof Pushplata Tripathi, Registrar, SED.

GUIDELINES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF IGNOU ON-LINE EXAMINATION FORM

Dear student,
Please ensure that you have already submitted the IGNOU assignments as applicable for the courses you are filling in the IGNOU Examination Form. Otherwise, Hall Tickets will NOT be issued for the courses for which IGNOU assignments have not been submitted by you.

Students are required to pay examination fee @ Rs. 60/- per course for theory as well as practical. A late fee of Rs. 300/- from 1st April, 2013 to 20th April, 2013 and Rs. 500/- from 21st April, 2013 to 30th April, 2013 also needs to be included, if submitted during this period.

Results of December, 2012 Term-end examinations of IGNOU are available on University website www.ignou.ac.in .

In case you wish to make payment through credit card please select this option and make the payment. Note that 1.96% of the amount to be paid will be debited to your Credit Card Account towards transaction charges. Please retain the auto generated control no. for future reference.

You will receive an acknowledgement with control number at the E-mail address given in the application form.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (Hindi: इंदिरा गाँधी राष्ट्रीय मुक्त विश्वविद्यालय), known as IGNOU, is a distance learning national university located in IGNOU road, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, India. IGNOU Assignment Submission due date and public Holidays

Fatima from Hyderabad asks us:

"30th is Sunday. Will the IGNOU study center be open on a Saturday/Sunday also? Can I submit the IGNOU "assignments" on a Sunday? I got a message saying that IGNOU exam form (TEE Form) last date has been extended to Monday 1st. Does that mean I can submit the IGNOU Assignments also on Monday?"

IGNOU EXPERTS: Normally, many IGNOU study centers work and be open on Saturdays and Sundays. But, it is better to ask your IGNOU study center from phone if they work on Saturdays and Sundays and if you can submit the IGNOU Assignments on Saturdays and Sundays.

Fatima has another Question on IGNOU Assignment Submission and Examination Form Fill up: "If due to any reason I fail to submit the IGNOU assignments before 30th/1st. Can I still submit the IGNOU assignments with a late fee? I know there is a late fee for exam forms which is Rs. 300 until 20th and Rs. 500 until 30th of next month, but I just want to make sure if it works for assignments as well."

IGNOU Experts: There is no clarity on this. This depends on IGNOU Study Center. We know in some centers, students are allowed to submit their IGNOU Assignments without any issue if the delay is not more than 15-20 days after the due date. It is better to contact your study center (SC).

IGNOU Assignment Submission and Update in IGNOU Website

We have a question on IGNOU Assignment from Hardin from Chandigarh:

"I tried to fill the Term End Exam Form (TEE Form) but the IGNOU Website says that the IGNOU assignments have not been submitted yet. I will be submitting the IGNOU assignments for the session ending December 2012 on 29.09.12 and the last date for submission of  TEE form is 30.09.12 (without late fee).
I want to know if I submit the IGNOU assignments on 29.09.12, would the submission of the IGNOU Assignments be reflected on the IGNOU website & I be able to submit the IGNOU Exam Form (TEE) by 30.09.12 ?"


Our Answer:  Hello, Hardin. First of all, you have to submit the IGNOU Assignments, only then, the TEE Exam form is accepted by IGNOU.

Now, you can not submit the IGNOU assignments and submit TEE Exam Form Online, because it takes some time to update Assignments submission by IGNOU University on the Status on website.

It's better if your assignments are ready, then, first of all, in the morning take DD and in the evening, visit your study center and submit the IGNOU assignments and take acknowledgement of the assignment submission to the Study Center of IGNOU. You need to ask for exam form there and please fill it up and get singed and sealed from the co-ordinator (on the back side of your Exam Form).
Secondly, Next day morning visit Regional Center (RC) or post your Exam form to RC.

If your IGNOU Assignments not ready, then, Prepare it before 31 October, 2012 and submit it, take DD including Late Fee as per applicable, submit to RC.

THE PROCESS OF UPDATE OF IGNOU ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION IN IGNOU WEBSITE

It's a long process.First, after the due date of Assignments Submission, Study Center of IGNOU will make a list of Assignments received. The list will be forwarded to Regional Center (RC) and after that it reaches IGNOU HQ, there also, some time will be taken to update into IGNOU website. Study center does not have Rights/Provision to update the submission of Assignments into the website.

IGNOU Expert: Hello Naresh,
It's better to submit TEE form offline. Because it takes some time (more than 4 weeks to update into system as told from RC - Regional Center). Even the students whom we are coaching are running to RC for submission. It seems that the Online TEE Form submission is useful for only Arrears courses.(where we already submitted assignments and reappearing for TEE). It's better for students if IGNOU makes some provision in study center itself instant updating of Assignments Submitted Status by study center co-ordinator and later, let them send the Evaluated Assignments Grades to IGNOU.
