Indira Gandhi National Open University has been received the awards of excellence by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canada. In Arts Program, IGNOU Offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) programmes: Major in Political Science, History, Economics, Mathematics, Public Administration, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, English, Hindi and Urdu and also Bachelor of Arts (Tourism Studies) (BTS). IGNOU also offers Master of Arts (MA) programmes: Major in Political Science, History, Economics, Mathematics, Public Administration, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, English, Hindi and Urdu.

IGNOU Distance learning MBA is provided approximately in 58 centers and the university is having nearly 1400 study centers across India. The application is considered for the following academic session. The deadline for most courses starting in the July 2015 session was June, 2015. Almost all regular and distance education courses are delivered through the English and Hindi medium except the certificate in food and nutrition. The courses which are delivered through multimedia platforms are in the form of self-instructional print and audio/video material, radio and TV broadcasts counseling/ tutoring, lab or hands-on work, video conferencing, interactive radio counseling, interactive CD-ROM and internet-based learning. IGNOU has crores of printed blocks, 1,562 audio programmes, 850 downlink centers and 3,482 video programmes.
